The world champions will be going back to school to help nurture future champions.
School children across south Australia will have something special to look forward to on February 8 as Ricky Ponting's World Champion side comes to meet them and share their experiences, run clinics and sign autographs and photos in a day-long tour.
The Back To School For A Day programme, which will see the participation of the entire Australian squad, will be a part of the Long Live School Cricket initiative of Cricket Australia (CA), a press release said.
"School is one starting place where children get their first cricket experience," Cricket Australia Chief Executive Officer James Sutherland said.
"We want to make sure that’s a positive experience, and that children know their involvement in cricket can extend beyond the schoolyard with other programs and opportunities, including the chance to maybe one day wear a baggy green cap," he added.
The concept originated during a conversation between Ponting and Sutherland.
"It was valuable to get Ricky’s input. We often discuss things like this and how we can better connect to all levels of the game," the CA CEO said.
Other national and state players will also play their part by heading back to school on the same day.
A full list of players and the schools they are due to visit in each state will be announced early next week.
