PONTING SLAMS POSSIBLE MOVE NORTH FOR SHIELD
Ricky Ponting has again run up his traditionalist colours by criticising a proposal to shift Sheffield Shield matches away from the capital cities.

PONTING HITS DOUBLE TON
Australian skipper Ricky Ponting has finally been dismissed but not before becoming the first player to score a Test double century at Bellerive Oval.

Ponting scored 25 bounadries in his marathon innings before chasing a wide ball and offering a simple catch to Pakistani captain Mohammad Yousuf off the bowling of Mohammad Aamer when on 209, midway through the second session of the second day of the third and final Test.
